Design
Design is at the heart of visual appeal and attraction. It governs how readers view pages and set-ups. The design of a page or article can greatly change the reader’s view and approach to exploring the work.
Infographics
Infographics are the majority of my design work. Infographics are great for condensing and displaying crucial information in concise, clear ways. They allow the reader to understand and view data more simply. Over my time as a journalist for Scot Scoop, I have used a variety of infographics.
Feature Story Infographic #1
In my feature story, Working out of Necessity, I highlighted the struggles that working students face, balancing school work and employment. Below, I created an infographic to demonstrate relevant information regarding employed high schoolers.
Feature Story Infographic #2
In the same feature story, I created an additional infographic to highlight the different jobs that high schoolers held. It was important to highlight the specific type of work high schoolers were struggling to balance and complete in their otherwise busy lives.
Theme Design Project
As part of my English final in 2022, I was required to create a design spread for a page on the play Julius Caesar. Using a variety of elements such as pull quotes and explainer boxes, I created a visually-appealing design page for the theme of Fate vs. Free Will.
